What's the difference between surgical & non-surgical hair replacement?

We use Indian hair in our system because of its strength, texture and the suitability to our clients. This hair represents the best blend between cost, comfort and longevity.

We’ve learned that there are some serious allegations about the harvesting of hair from ethnic Uyghur women who have been incarcerated by the Chinese government. These women, who keep their hair long because of their cultural traditions, are having their heads shaved when they are placed in detention centers (called Education Centers). Their hair is given to other inmates who, in forced labour situations, turn the hair into hairpieces to be exported to western countries.

Cochrane & Co is committed to using only ethically-sourced hair weaves and hairpieces. We monitor our supply chain and will continue to monitor the supplies we get to ensure that we are not unwittingly contributing to a human rights violation which is why we also use ethically sourced Indian hair.

Yes, you can swim with your hair system however, the chlorine in the water will break down the bond and fade the colour quicker.

Therefore, if you are regularly swimming for exercise, we recommend wearing two swimming hats to protect the colour and condition of your hair system.

Yes. Thousands of men across the UK and beyond are more than happy with their hair replacement systems. They look completely natural and add brilliant texture, length, and volume to hair. They boost confidence by giving men a full head of hair.

Men’s hair systems offer a non-surgical, pain-free alternative to hair transplant surgeries. Hair transplants can cause a significant amount of pain, cost a great deal, and are not always successful. Hair systems are more cost-effective, have zero downtime, and achieve transformative results.

Yes. Hair systems are waterproof, meaning that you can shower and swim with ease. We’ll advise you on the best hair care products to use when washing and styling your hair to ensure longer-lasting results.

Yes. Many of our clients are sports enthusiasts. Your hair system is securely fixed in place enabling you to live life as usual and enjoy sporting activities.

Yes. You can sleep in your hair system and live life as normal. When you wake up, you simply style your hair system for the day and enjoy the benefits of a full, thick head of hair.

Mostly no, unless you’re in excessive sun or if you use a shampoo with salt in it. We recommend a sulfate-free shampoo to prolong the health of your new hair.

You can style your hair in any way you like. We usually cut your new hair on a bisection, which means you can put a parting on the left hand side, the center or the right hand side. You can wear it back, you can wear it forward. It depends on your style, but we like to give you versatility in your hairstyles, so you can adapt it.

Our Cochrane & Co colour and style experts will expertly colour match your hair system to your own hair colour. We have a wide range of colours available and can always tailor-make a unique colour for your needs. We can also confidently cover greys.

You’ll need to wait 48 hours before washing your hair replacement system or getting it wet. This includes any strenuous exercise that makes you sweat. After 48 hours, you can continue life as normal and resume all these activities.

Yes. You can gently blow dry your hair system on cool or medium heat. Hair dryers work well for styling your hair.

Hair straighteners can knacker the hair over time, reducing the hair system's lifespan. While you can use a straightening iron, it’s best to avoid them if possible to maintain the quality and health of the hair.

We will shave the part of the head where the hair replacement system is added.  We try to work with your natural hair so we can blend the hair replacement around your existing hair for a natural look.

Yes indeed. There is no problem at all about that, just give us a call and we can arrange that to happen.  A lot of our guys are very proud of their hair systems and there is a sort of brotherhood among people who wear the systems and the people who fit them, and that works out quite well, you’d be surprised.

As a guide, the shortest style length we can achieve for a natural look is a number 4 or 5 clipper cut length.

We advise that our clients adjust their hair systems every 2-4 weeks and properly cleanse the scalp. If you’re more active, you might want to do this more regularly. You are welcome to pop into the salon for a refit service or our technicians can show you how to do it yourself.

Absolutely!  As experienced hairdressers, we can precisely match your hair system to your natural hair colour. We will colour the system and also cut and style it to ensure it looks natural and realistic.

Yes, we can cut, colour, perm and style your hair to precisely the look you desire.  We also are experts in the Calligraphy Cut which is a special way of cutting curly hair to ensure it sits beautifully.  Cutting and styling curly hair is an art which we have perfected at Hair Replacement London.

Yes. Hair systems can effectively hide male hair loss and add extra length, volume, and body to your hair. Our hair replacement systems for men are incredibly discreet.

Our human hair is ethically sourced in India where people donate their hair to holy temples. Proceeds from the sale of the hair go towards maintaining the temples and supporting the monks. Indian hair is usually ‘virgin’ hair. This means that it's had no prior bleaching or chemical treatments. The hair we use for our men's hair systems embodies optimal quality, health, and strength.

Once we have collected the hair, we sort it according to length, colour, thickness, type, and density. This is an important step in crafting professional, natural-looking men’s hair systems in London.

Once the hair has been properly sorted, it’s time to assemble the hair systems. We expertly sew the hair strands onto lace or polyskin membranes to ensure that strands are firmly affixed to the base. These systems can be standard or customised depending on your unique needs.

After an in-depth consult, it’s time to fit your men’s hair system. Firstly, we will shave the thinning hair and apply a hypoallergenic bonding solution to the area. Next, we will carefully fit the hair system, ensuring total precision. Finally, we cut and style it to your specific requirements.

We strive to give each client exactly what they want and that’s why we believe in the importance of our in-depth consultation service. Hair replacement for men is a hugely personal issue and we work with clients to achieve a natural look that they love. If you are unhappy for any reason, we can restyle your hair system to a look that makes you look and feel great.

This is a completely personal decision. Since our men's hair systems are so discreet, no one will be able to know that you're wearing one unless you tell them.

We mainly use Indian hair which is ethically sourced from the major temples in India where people donate their hair for charity to maintain the temples. Your hair is 100% natural human hair* (* grey hair is not always 100% human.)

Your hair feels lightweight and is firmly affixed so you will not feel like you are wearing a hair replacement system.

To stop the hair from becoming tangled, the protective layer called the cuticle is stripped from the hair shaft. The hair is then bleached and recoloured to the required shade.

This bleaching process also ensures that the hair is sanitised. The hair strands are then sealed with silicone which replaces the stripped back cuticle layer, leaving the hair glossy and tangle free.

Yes, we use real donated hair in order to make the hair pieces. This makes it feel like having a normal head of hair.

No. Our hair systems are made with breathable membranes that enable proper ventilation. They are also fitted with a special hypo-allergenic adhesive that won’t irritate your scalp.

There are many causes for hair loss in men but one of the leading causes is a condition known as Male Androgenic Alopecia. This genetic condition results in a receding hairline or balding on the top of the head which gradually increases. Over the years, this condition can cause significant hair thinning and hair loss.

Yes. Male hair loss is very common with Male Androgenic Alopecia impacting around 30 - 50 % of men by the age of 50. If you are experiencing hair loss, you are not alone and our hair systems can help you regain your confidence.

A range of other health conditions and medications can cause hair loss including chronic stress, hormonal changes, cancer and certain cancer treatments like chemotherapy.

Systems start at £599 for Supply, Fit, Cut and Style. View our prices here

We will have a conversation and consultation before your appointment. But if you're not happy with the results we can remove and restyle your hair until you find a look you are happy with. We're here to work with you!

Hair replacement system colours last as they would in natural hair. We advise that clients use sulfate-free shampoos and don't spend excessive amounts of time in the sun to enhance colour longevity.

We require three months to create a customised hair system based on client specifications. Standard systems can be purchased and styled much sooner. During your consultation for hair replacement for men, we will advise how long your hair system will take to fit, cut, and style.

Yes. Our hair system technicians will shave the parts of your head where the system is affixed. We work expertly with your hair ensuring proper blending for a totally natural and discreet look.

Yes, we are usually able to fit most systems that are made of natural hair including PU membrane and tape and lace systems.

A Refit & Style Service costS £175 and includes removal of the system, cleaning, conditioning, cut and style of your natural hair and takes 2 hours.

Hair systems are made from high-grade human hair sourced from India. This is woven onto a polyskin or lace membrane and then styled accordingly.

We use polyskin or lace bases. Some hair systems contain both materials. These materials affix to the scalp comfortably and allow for adequate ventilation and breathability.

Our standard men’s hair replacement systems are 6 inches in length. They can then be styled according to your unique preferences.

Depending on your lifestyle, we would recommend a refit of your hair system every 2-6 weeks.

More active people may need to remove, cleanse and refit the system more often. You can come into the salon for this service or our experts can show you how to do this yourself at home.

We advise you to use shampoos and conditioners without sulphate. We offer a range of NAK sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners in the salon.

Yes, your hair system will stay in place as long as it is correctly bonded down.

On average our clients replace their system every 3-4 months but some last much longer. How long your new hair lasts depends on how much and how often you sweat, your exercise regime, and how you look after your hair. We encourage customers to regularly remove and reapply the system themselves and give you the know-how and tools to do this.

We recommend that you only wash your hair system once a week to ensure longer-lasting results. Washing your hair system too often can cause the bond to break down. When washing your hair system, use lukewarm water and gentle stroking motions rather than vigorous scrubbing.

We suggest that you use deeply nourishing, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. Our stylists will recommend a range of products including the Nake Hydrate or Nake Nourish shampoo and conditioners. After washing your hair, you can apply a small drop of Alaparf Smoothing Oil.

Yes, you can carefully brush your men’s hair system with vent brushes or combs. Ensure that you brush gently to avoid tearing the base layer.

Bonds usually break down within 2-4 weeks. During this time, the hair system will feel loser and the bond will feel sticker. When this occurs, you’ll need to pop in for a refit service or refit it yourself using our guidance.

On average we lose 100 hairs a day. To maintain a normal volume, hair must be replaced at the same rate as it is lost.  Noticing more hairs on your hairbrush after brushing or in the basin after shampooing are early indicators of hair thinning. A wider parting, receding hairline or thinning crown are also early signs of hair loss.

Reversing your hair loss could be possible although it is entirely based on the cause of the loss and can vary from person to person. Book in for your consultation with our hair loss and hair thinning specialists at Cochrane & Co. Hair Clinic in London.

The causes of hair loss in men are becoming more widely recognised, as well as the emotional impact on a man’s confidence and self esteem. Male hair loss conditions include male pattern baldness, receding hairlines, cancer, alopecia, traction alopecia and medication. We can provide solutions for hair loss in men in a confidential and relaxed setting.

Alopecia is widely known, yet there are huge variations of the condition that affect people for a short-term, or ongoing basis. Alopecia Areata, Scarring Alopecia, Anagen Effluvium and Telogen Effluvium are all hair loss conditions recognised by our hair replacement experts, and we have a variety of non-surgical hair replacement treatments to help.

Side effects of some medicines can cause your hair to thin or fall out. Please consult your GP if you are experiencing any side effects from your medication. Book your consultation with our hair loss experts where we can support you with your hair concerns and find suitable treatments to help you feel more like yourself.

Yes, you can wear your hair replacement while sleeping, showering, swimming and exercising.  Just go about your daily business.  We've even had clients have 'intimate moments' and no-one has yet come back to tell us of any embarrassing moments or issues while wearing their hair replacement system.

No problem at all. We’ve had people bungee jumping, scuba diving, free diving, honeymooning in Thailand and Bangladesh and there was no problem whatsoever. So owning a convertible and going for a drive in the sun and the roof down is no issue whatsoever as long as the bond is secure.

Standard systems are about 6 inches long, so you can achieve up to a good mid-length haircut.

For longer styles you can order a custom system of up to around 12 inches long hair, althought this takes much longer to arrive and they are significantly more expensive systems. We will discuss your requirements at your Hair System Consultation and provide a detailed quote for longer hair.

Providing your replacement hair is prepared and fitted by a specialist, no-one should be able to tell you are wearing a Hair Replacement System. Hair colour, texture, density and curl are all carefully matched so that the only person who’ll know about it is you. This holds true even if you’re a very active person and do lots of sports. You can swim, run, and be as active as you want to be, in the confidence that your hair won’t let you down.

We will carry out a thorough consultation beforehand to try and avoid any issues.  However, if you do not like your new hair or hairstyle, do not worry.  We are here to make it work for you.  We can take it off and restyle it until you like the way your new hair looks.

Surgical hair replacement involves transplanting hair into your scalp. It’s the right solution for some people but comes with the usual downsides associated with any sort of surgery, infection risk, a degree of discomfort and so on. Non-surgical hair replacement is non-invasive, comes with no risk of complications and is suitable for anyone, regardless of the reason for their hair loss.
