What happens during a 2-hour Refit & Style?
A Refit & Style is the regular service that keeps your hair system (the hairpiece bonded to your scalp) looking right. It takes 2 hours in our Holborn salon, and it has five parts. First, we remove the system from your scalp. Second, we clean it. Third, we condition the hair so it stays soft. Fourth, we refit it, using a hypo-allergenic bonding agent (a skin-safe glue) or tape. Fifth, we cut and style your natural hair so it blends with the system.
That last step matters more than most men expect. Your own hair at the back and sides keeps growing between visits. If it is not cut in, the join starts to show. We cut both together, so you walk out with one finished haircut. The price is £199 for the full 2 hours. You do not pay extra for the cleaning or the style.
How often do you need a hair system refit?
Most of our clients come in for a Refit & Style every 12 weeks. In between, they book a hair system haircut every 6-8 weeks. A new system is usually needed every 3-6 months. On average a system lasts about 15 weeks, though many last much longer.
So a typical year looks like this. You have a haircut roughly every two months, a refit roughly every three months and a new system two to four times. The exact timing depends on your hair, your skin and how you live. Men who sweat a lot at the gym, or who swim often, may need a clean sooner. We will tell you honestly what your system needs when we see it. We do not lock clients into contracts. You book each visit when you need it, and you can stop at any time.
How do you look after your hair system between visits?
A fitted system usually lasts about 2-4 weeks before it needs removing, cleaning and refitting. You can do this yourself at home, or book in with us. Straight after a fit, keep it dry and do not lift or fiddle with it for a day or two. The bonding agent needs that time to set properly.
After that, wash it once a week and be gentle. Dry it on medium heat, or let it dry naturally. Sulphate-free shampoo, conditioner and a leave-in conditioner help keep the hair soft. What does a hair system refit cost in London?
A Refit & Style costs £199 and takes 2 hours, as listed on our hair replacement prices page. That one price covers the whole service: removal of the system, cleaning, conditioning, refit, and the cut and style of your natural hair. You do not pay extra for the cleaning or the style.
Because you come in about every 12 weeks, it helps to plan for it. Most clients book a refit around four times a year, with haircuts in between. We do not sell packages or lock you into a contract. You pay for each visit when you have it.

Your refit is done by one of our four hair system experts. Cochrane & Co was founded in London in 1996, and the salon has fitted over 10,000 hair systems. The team is led by Paul Cochrane, our owner and hair system expert. Our team of 4 hair system experts works together in one salon, and every refit is done by one of them.
We specialise in hair systems for men. Most of our clients have male pattern baldness (hair loss on top, with hair still at the back and sides). Do you do regrooming of existing systems?
Yes. Our Refit & Style is the regroom: we remove, clean, condition and refit your system, then cut and style your natural hair. It costs £199 and takes 2 hours.
Do I need a consultation before my first refit?
Only if you have never had a hair system before. In that case a consultation comes first, so we can look at your hair and talk through your options. Book one on our hair system consultations page.
Will a hair system make my own hair grow back?
No. A hair system does not regrow hair, and it is not a hair transplant. Our systems are non-invasive, drug free and non-medical. We provide the system and the care, and results vary from man to man.
